What are metal prints? And why do we love them?
Metal prints display your image in all the all the vibrant, gorgeous colors of the Caribbean which you remember. These are not images printed on metallic paper (although we offer those too!). The image you select is infused onto specially-coated aluminum sheets, with a high gloss finish. Metal prints don’t fade or ripple as quickly as paper prints, preserving your images as you first remembered them.
Each image comes with built-in mounting hardware, which keeps your image away from the wall, and small pads keep your wall free from scratches.
We also love metal prints because aluminum is lightweight and easy to hang. We originally had this display in our foyer in paper prints in floating frames, in which the print is held between two pieces of glass and placed into a frame. We used a gallery hanging system from Griplock Systems (LOVE this company). You attach hangers to the back of the frame and slide them up wires which are held in place on a track. This was really difficult with the paper print, glass, frame combination – it was super heavy, and extremely difficult to slide evenly up the track. After a year, the paper prints started to ripple and fade, having been exposed to temperature and humidity changes, and sunlight in our two-story foyer. I then switched them out to metal prints. I didn’t need the glass because the metal prints are glossy, and fit in the frames themselves. Sliding up the wires was a breeze because the were so light! Now I don’t have to worry about the quick fading and rippling I had seen with the paper prints!
We love these prints so much, we use them to exhibit our work Check out our recent exhibits!

Our metal prints ship with the mount on the back for easy hanging and are unframed. Please note that due to the nature of the metal printing process, slight inconsistencies vary from one print to the next. These may appear as noticeable small bumps or bubbles, which are caused from the application of the basecoat that is necessary to give the image a rich, true color. Each print is quality inspected to minimize these imperfections. This is an acceptable and expected part of the process and final product.
Although metal prints resist fading far better than paper prints, they will fade over time, so you should avoid direct sunlight. If you’re into the technical data, read about the Xenon Light Stability Testing results here.
