We are not usually ones to visit resort restaurants, generally preferring to dine at local establishments on our trips to the Caribbean. But there are some places that prove us wrong, and prove that we could really be missing out. This trip to Cap Juluca, we had lunch and dinner at Uchu, known for bringing the cuisine of Peru to the shores of Anguilla. We were first tempted when we heard raves about the ceviche, so one afternoon after a long morning at the beach, we stopped in for a bite. Uchu is set just outside the bar just across from the concierge, overlooking beautiful Maunday’s Bay. The ceviche features…

While enjoying the Caribbean Rum Tasting with Walter, we learned he would be teaching the Cocktail Master Class from the Cap Juluca Activities Guide, so sign us up! The class was conducted at the main bar at Cip’s and was so popular, that the bar was full by the time class started. So let’s break out the cocktail shaker and get started! We started out with a mojito, and by the end of class, there were five or six cocktails. At this point, it’s tough to recall, actually, but the end of the class it was tough to remember, but I had a few favorites. There was a delicious cucumber…

We’re on a mission to experience all the alcohol-related experiences which are complimentary at Cap Juluca, Anguilla. Our next stop: the wine tasting. We knew we wanted to do the rum tasting, so we booked that through the concierge, but while there, we decided we would try the wine tasting. While sitting on the beach, we texted our villa host, and within minutes, we received confirmation. Franklyn was our host this afternoon, providing us information on each of the pours, and graciously answering all our questions. We were joined by friends we met earlier, and met some new friends along the way. Several of us left with our favorites as…

We have stayed at a lot of beautiful resorts with lots of amenities, and haven’t really taken advantage of the activities offered by the resorts. Give me a beautiful beach and clear blue water and I’m set, but this trip, we decided to check out some of the items in the Cap Juluca Activities Brochure. The first up – a rum tasting with Walter, who we would see again at the Cocktail Master Class – more on that to come. The rum tasting starts with the least complex of the rums, but you have to start somewhere. We started with Anguillita, and worked our way up to 21 year Zafra,…

In November of 2025, we returned for another stay at Cap Juluca, Anguilla for a week of soaking up the sun on Anguilla’s best beach, Maunday’s Bay. We were last at Cap Juluca in 2019, when the resort was fresh off its $100M+ post-Irma renovation. I really wasn’t expecting it to be any better than that, but I have to say, the Belmond group again surprised me. This will be the first of several posts covering our stay, as we participated in several activities, including a rum tasting, a wine tasting, and a cocktail class, all worthy of separate attention, but, with our welcome cocktail in hand, let’s take a…

It’s not every day that you get to see new life come into the world, especially when you’re on vacation. A morning walk along Maunday’s Bay in Anguilla ended in the excitement of seeing dozens of hawksbill turtles hatching, and make their way out to sea. We had just finished breakfast at Cap Juluca’s Cip’s and were walking back to our villa at the west end of the beach. A few people walking ahead of us stopped, and soon a small group formed. It wasn’t long before we spotted it. There was a turtle nest along the retaining wall, and the baby turtles were hatching and heading out for their…

Let’s take a tour of Belmond Cap Juluca which opened just in time for festive season in December of 2018. The star of the show is the beautiful stretch of sand along Maunday’s Bay. Each room is oceanfront with spectacular views. The rooms are beautifully appointed with comfortable furnishings in soft tones. Small things like outlets and USB plugs inside the bedside drawers are a nice feature, particularly with every member of the family having their own electronics to store. The bathrooms are spacious with a large shower and tub, both with a view of the ocean. Double sinks and a large vanity give you plenty of space to spread…
