Anguilla Card-1-4

Anguilla has the reputation of being a high-end, expensive destination.  No island is a bargain, when you consider the costs of importing goods, but you can ease the load a bit and travel for less with the Anguilla Card.  The “discount card” for the island is the result of the ingenuity and hard work of Nori Evoy, whose website, Anguilla Beaches, is the essential guide to everything Anguilla.  The Anguilla Card gives you 10% off at all points of your vacation, from your transfers to the island to that special meal to celebrate the end of the perfect trip.   The card applies to you and anyone in your traveling party up to six members.  The cost of the card is $49, which is easily made up in savings.  In fact, Nori assures you that if you do not save at least $100 with your card, your next card is free!

How did the Anguilla card get started?

We asked Nori about the origins of the card and her experience with it.

Where did you get the idea for the card?

The Anguilla Card was born out of survey feedback collected on our website. We asked visitors two questions: What did you love about Anguilla? What part of the experience can be improved upon? One of the single biggest areas of improvement – cost. We thought, why not help ease vacation costs with a Card that both saves visitors money and brings Anguilla’s excellent businesses exposure, many being undiscovered gems.

How did you get started?

It all began by talking with prospective Card Partners. The first few responded with a resounding “this is a no brainer idea” for the exposure. It grew from there.

Have you gotten any feedback as to how much people are saving?

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive on the whole, with great savings found with rental cars, activities, restaurants and boutiques. When visitors use the Card, too, for hotels and villas, the savings are even greater. Beyond the savings, the Card Holder Newsletter, sent weekly, has been a favorite part of the Card Holder experience – keeping Anguilla lovers in touch with favorite establishments while sharing new finds.

What has your experience been in your work with the program?

Bringing Partners volumes of new business, especially those who were more undiscovered before, and bringing great savings to visitors… it’s been fun and rewarding!

How much can you save?

We had no trouble recouping the cost of the card.  You can use the card even before you arrive, to make arrangements for your trip, such as arranging for your transfers, or booking an excursion.  You will receive a temporary card via e-mail to make arrangements in advance, and they will deliver your permanent card to your hotel or villa, along with a list of program participants.  Partners include hotels and villas, restaurants, tour providers, and more.   We saved more than the cost of the card with just one scuba/snorkeling trip for our family of four with Shoal Bay Scuba.

The providers are many of the places you would visit anyway, and new providers are being added regularly.  We used the card with Shoal Bay Scuba, Limin’ Boutique, da Vida (where Omari Banks and Eleven play on Sunday afternoons!), Hungry’s, Cha Cha San, Roy’s Bayside Grill, and Geraud’s.  Since our trip, they have added even more favorites, including Garvey’s Sunshine Shack!  Check out the current participants here.
