Grenada’s Underwater Sculpture Park with Aquanauts

    February 28, 2022 / No Comments

When you travel, you can’t always plan for the weather. Luckily, in the Caribbean, there are more sunny days than rainy ones, but when you have some rain, it can change your plans. Ever since I began planning a trip to Grenada, I wanted to visit the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park. So we planned a trip with Aquanauts, and despite a bit of rain clouding up our view, we had a great trip out onto the water. Installed in 2006, Molinere Bay Underwater Sculpture Park was the first of artist Jason deCaires Taylor’s underwater gardens. The sculptures are intended to form a platform upon which coral could grow and provide an…

The Best of Grenada with Mandoo Tours

    February 19, 2022 / No Comments

When we travel, we’re not much for tours. We rent a car and explore the island on our own, relying upon historical markers, maps, and conversations here and there. However, when I take a tour, like we did on the island of Grenada with Mandoo Tours, I question why we don’t do tours on every trip.  Mandoo was a wealth of information and a great conversationalist, and showed us places on the island we might have never seen on our own. Knowing that COVID would limit our ability to see Grenada, I decided to book a tour. Mandoo was recommended by the staff at Spice Island Beach Resort, and after…

    Planning Travel During the Pandemic

    January 4, 2022 / No Comments

I recently read an article from a fellow travel writer about how she had not traveled in two years, and regretted having missed a window to travel before the recent spike in COVID cases. I have to admit that I was hesitant to return to international travel given all the additional rules, and rules which seemed to change daily. I was fearful one of us would fail a test, tossing all our plans to the side. Having just returned from our first international trip during the pandemic, and after jumping through all the hoops, it was well worth all the planning involved to return to a little bit of normal.…

    Postcards from the Islands

    April 5, 2015 / No Comments

I love to collect postcards.  When I travel on business, I stop into local antique stores and take a look around, especially for postcards from the Caribbean.  Many of these cards date back to a time when zip codes weren’t used.  You just wrote the city, or city and state, and your card found its way to the right place. The images draw me in, but I love to read the messages. Some are very short and sweet.  Some cram as much as they can in that tiny little space.  Some reflect the time they were written more than others.   The places have changed over the years, and our…
