The Best of Grenada with Mandoo Tours

    February 19, 2022 / No Comments

When we travel, we’re not much for tours. We rent a car and explore the island on our own, relying upon historical markers, maps, and conversations here and there. However, when I take a tour, like we did on the island of Grenada with Mandoo Tours, I question why we don’t do tours on every trip.  Mandoo was a wealth of information and a great conversationalist, and showed us places on the island we might have never seen on our own. Knowing that COVID would limit our ability to see Grenada, I decided to book a tour. Mandoo was recommended by the staff at Spice Island Beach Resort, and after…

    Planning Travel During the Pandemic

    January 4, 2022 / No Comments

I recently read an article from a fellow travel writer about how she had not traveled in two years, and regretted having missed a window to travel before the recent spike in COVID cases. I have to admit that I was hesitant to return to international travel given all the additional rules, and rules which seemed to change daily. I was fearful one of us would fail a test, tossing all our plans to the side. Having just returned from our first international trip during the pandemic, and after jumping through all the hoops, it was well worth all the planning involved to return to a little bit of normal.…

Meads Bay, Anguilla: Map to Hotels, Restaurants, & Bars

    February 14, 2021 / No Comments

Where can I stay on Anguilla within walking distance of restaurants and bars? If you want to have a few cocktails and don’t want to worry about driving on the left, or if you just like to walk the beach to and from dinner, a hotel within walking distance of food and drink is ideal. On Anguilla, we love to stay on Meads Bay because it is a beautiful stretch of beach sprinkled with some of our favorite bars and restaurants on the island. Let’s take a walk down Meads Bay with this map to guide us to the best spots on the island. Meads Bay is approximately one and…

    Best Restaurants in Anguilla

    January 18, 2021 / No Comments

Little did we know in January of 2020 that it would be a while before we could travel again. Luckily, we had the opportunity to travel to Anguilla, try some new restaurants and savor some of our favorites. This list is of the restaurants we return to year after year. They have proven to have the best food and service on the island. So we may be home for a bit, but we can plan our next trip, making certain we visit these places again in the future. Blanchards & Blanchard’s Beach Shack When I crave a cheeseburger, Blanchard’s Beach Shack is my place. It’s a great place to stop…

Snorkeling with Anguilla’s Rum & Reel Charters

    June 26, 2020 / No Comments

I love my time relaxing on the beach, but I’m always up for a little adventure,  so on our January 2020 visit to Anguilla, we booked a trip with Anguilla’s Rum & Reel Charters. Anguilla’s Rum & Reel Charters offers a variety of tours, including half and full-day trips for fishing, snorkeling and sightseeing. You may have a particular destination in mind like Sandy Island or Prickly Pear, or maybe you just want to take a trip around the island. Chris at Anguilla Charters can design the trip so you can plan the perfect day. We booked a half-day trip and got 10% off with our Anguilla card! As our…

Beachfront Luxury and Gracious Hospitality: Frangipani Beach Resort, Anguilla

    February 22, 2020 / No Comments

Location Luxurious Accommodations On-Site Restaurant Eco-Friendly Even if you don’t consider yourself to be an environmentalist, it is nice to know that efforts are made to preserve valuable resources and protect the natural beauty of the places we enjoy. Frangipani is leading the way in using clean energy to power the resort, reduce waste, and minimize the impact on the natural environment. Solar panels supply approximately 70% of the resort’s energy needs. Frangipani provides each guest with a reusable cup, and provides a chilled water dispenser near the pool from which to refill your glass. The resort has also moved to paper straws to reduce plastic waste. The small amenities…
