When we travel, we’re not much for tours. We rent a car and explore the island on our own, relying upon historical markers, maps, and conversations here and there. However, when I take a tour, like we did on the island of Grenada with Mandoo Tours, I question why we don’t do tours on every trip. Mandoo was a wealth of information and a great conversationalist, and showed us places on the island we might have never seen on our own. Knowing that COVID would limit our ability to see Grenada, I decided to book a tour. Mandoo was recommended by the staff at Spice Island Beach Resort, and after…

I recently read an article from a fellow travel writer about how she had not traveled in two years, and regretted having missed a window to travel before the recent spike in COVID cases. I have to admit that I was hesitant to return to international travel given all the additional rules, and rules which seemed to change daily. I was fearful one of us would fail a test, tossing all our plans to the side. Having just returned from our first international trip during the pandemic, and after jumping through all the hoops, it was well worth all the planning involved to return to a little bit of normal.…

We’re just back from a Thanksgiving trip to Grenada. Travel was complicated a bit due to COVID protocols, but it was well worth the effort. We stayed at the AAA Five Diamond Spice Island Beach Resort, located on stunning Grand Anse beach. Check back soon for posts from our trip to this beautiful island!

When we planned the trip to Key West, I knew I wanted to visit Dry Tortugas National Park. Dry Tortugas National Park is located 70 miles west of Key West and is accessible only by seaplane, ferry, or by private boat with a permit approved by the National Park Service. The least expensive way to get to the park is by the Yankee Freedom ferry, which transports up to 175 passengers and takes 2 to 2-1/2 hours to reach the park. The seaplane costs a bit more, but you arrive at the park in 35 minutes and get an amazing view of Key West, the park, and everything in between.…

Where can I stay on Anguilla within walking distance of restaurants and bars? If you want to have a few cocktails and don’t want to worry about driving on the left, or if you just like to walk the beach to and from dinner, a hotel within walking distance of food and drink is ideal. On Anguilla, we love to stay on Meads Bay because it is a beautiful stretch of beach sprinkled with some of our favorite bars and restaurants on the island. Let’s take a walk down Meads Bay with this map to guide us to the best spots on the island. Meads Bay is approximately one and…

Little did we know in January of 2020 that it would be a while before we could travel again. Luckily, we had the opportunity to travel to Anguilla, try some new restaurants and savor some of our favorites. This list is of the restaurants we return to year after year. They have proven to have the best food and service on the island. So we may be home for a bit, but we can plan our next trip, making certain we visit these places again in the future. Blanchards & Blanchard’s Beach Shack When I crave a cheeseburger, Blanchard’s Beach Shack is my place. It’s a great place to stop…
